Shift4 Dine, the POS system formerly called SkyTab, for Arkansas restaurants
Same platform, new name. Here is what Shift4 Dine actually includes, what the hardware family covers, and the questions the rename does not answer.

SkyTab is now Shift4 Dine. Shift4 announced the rename in May 2026 and says the products, the interface, the integrations and the support channels are unchanged. It is an all in one restaurant platform where online ordering, QR code order and pay, reservations, waitlist, loyalty and a website builder are listed as included rather than sold as add ons. Shift4 does not publish a monthly software price or a card rate.
“We are not mosquitoes. You will not be swatting us away. But we are not disappearing after the install either.”
Is SkyTab the same thing as Shift4 Dine?
Yes. Shift4 published a customer notice on 5 May 2026 saying that on 12 May, SkyTab POS would officially be rebranded as Shift4 Dine. The notice states that customers continue to use the same products with the same service and support, that there are no changes to day to day operations or to the software interface, and that account setup, integrations, reporting and support channels all remain unchanged. No action was required from existing merchants.
The web address moved with the name. A request to skytab.com/pricing now lands on dine.shift4.com/pricing. If a rep still hands you a folder that says SkyTab on the cover, that is not a warning sign by itself, because printed material takes a while to catch up. It does tell you how recently that rep was trained. Ask which brand name your merchant agreement will be written under before you sign it, and keep a copy.

What hardware does Shift4 Dine actually sell?
Shift4 lists six pieces of restaurant hardware: a Workstation, a Handheld, a Tablet, a Kitchen Display System, a Customer Facing Display and a Kiosk. Shift4 advertises a lifetime warranty on this hardware and states in its own words that if it breaks, they will replace it. That is a warranty claim from the manufacturer, and it is worth having in writing on your order form rather than only on a web page.
The kitchen display comes as a 16 or 22 inch touchscreen with an optional bump bar that Shift4 describes as having an all aluminium housing, twenty sealed magnetic buttons and a scroll wheel. The handheld runs the full POS software, takes EMV chip, NFC tap and swipe as a backup, accepts Apple Pay and Google Pay, and has both 4G and WiFi so curbside and patio service do not need a separate product. Shift4 states that payments on it are secured by tokenisation and PCI validated point to point encryption.
One naming note. The older SkyTab site named the devices SkyTab POS System, SkyTab Mobile and SkyTab Glass. The Shift4 Dine site uses plain descriptive names instead. Same device families, different labels on the spec sheet.
What is included without an extra software charge?
The Shift4 Dine pricing page lists marketing and loyalty, reservations and waitlist, a QR code solution and a website builder as free, alongside the line get started for zero dollars. Online ordering is presented the same way. Shift4 describes its online ordering as commission free, integrating directly into the POS so orders reach the kitchen without a dedicated tablet on the pass, with order throttling to keep the back of house from being buried during a rush.
Shift4 also runs a Marketplace of third party integrations, and names DoorDash, Uber Eats and Postmates among them, so marketplace orders can be pulled into the same ticket flow rather than sitting on their own screen.
Read the footer before you get excited. The pricing page carries the line that terms and conditions apply and that advertised pricing is only for new customers. Included also does not mean free of card fees. Every online order still carries card processing, and processing is the cost that matters most over three years.

How much does Shift4 Dine cost?
As of 29 July 2026, Shift4 does not publish a monthly software figure or a card processing rate anywhere on the Shift4 Dine site. The pricing page advertises getting started for zero dollars, lists what is included at no extra software charge, and describes processing only as competitive rates, or as an Advantage Program that offsets processing fees by design.
That means any specific monthly number you find on a review site or hear from a rep is a deal that someone was offered, not a published price you can hold Shift4 to. We will not repeat those numbers here, because we cannot source them to the vendor.
What you can do is make the quote comparable. Ask for the software cost per terminal per month in writing, the hardware cost both as a purchase and as a subscription, and the processing quoted as interchange plus a stated markup with the full fee schedule attached. Then run the effective rate arithmetic on the pricing page and compare it against your current statement.

Who installs it, and who answers the phone on go live night?
Shift4 publishes 24 hour in house technical support and onsite installation through a nationwide network of certified technicians. That is the vendor layer and it is real, but a national technician who has never seen your kitchen is not the same as the person who built your menu.
Our part is the local part. We program your menu before the hardware ships, so the system arrives with your items, your modifiers, your happy hour rules and your tax categories already in it rather than a demo menu. We install in person. We are in the building on go live night, which is the shift where problems actually surface. Judd Alsup leads the Arkansas side of this.
If you call or fill in a form, a real person calls you back within two hours, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 7pm Central. Not a scheduling link, not a chatbot.
Shift4 Dine, honestly
Three reps have already told you what it does well. Here is the same product with the awkward parts left in.
What works
- Online ordering, QR code order and pay, reservations, waitlist, loyalty and marketing and a website builder are listed on the pricing page as included rather than as paid add ons.
- The hardware family covers a whole restaurant from one vendor: workstation, handheld, tablet, kitchen display, customer facing display and kiosk.
- Shift4 advertises a lifetime hardware warranty and states that if a device breaks, they will replace it.
- The handheld runs the full POS with both 4G and WiFi, so curbside, patio and delivery are not a separate product line.
- Shift4 publishes 24 hour in house technical support and onsite installation through certified technicians.
- Online ordering is described as commission free and routes into the POS without a dedicated tablet on the pass.
What does not
- Shift4 publishes no monthly software price and no card processing rate on its own site. You cannot comparison shop Shift4 Dine from the web the way you can shop Clover, and that opacity works in the seller's favour, not yours.
- The pricing page states that advertised pricing is only for new customers. If you are an existing merchant trying to renegotiate, the promotional offer is not aimed at you.
- Software and processing come from the same company. You cannot keep the POS and move your card processing to a cheaper provider later, so a good rate today is worth checking again in year two.
- The rebrand is only weeks old. Review sites, training videos, forum threads and third party integration documents still say SkyTab, which makes independent research harder than for a platform that has had one name for a decade.
- The Advantage Program that offsets processing fees does so by moving cost onto the guest at checkout. That is a decision about your customers and your state's surcharging rules, not a discount.
- Free loyalty, free reservations and a free website builder are only worth something if you switch them on. Do not let bundled tools you will never configure justify a worse effective rate.
Questions restaurant owners ask
Do I have to do anything because of the SkyTab rename?
No. Shift4 stated that no action is required, that account setup, integrations, reporting and support channels are unchanged, and that the software interface is the same. The change is cosmetic from an operator's point of view. The only practical step is to make sure your paperwork and your accountant's records use the name that appears on your current statements.
Will my old SkyTab hardware still work?
Shift4's rebrand notice says customers continue to use the same products with the same service and support, and that there are no changes to day to day operations. It does not announce any hardware retirement. If you are running older equipment, ask Shift4 support directly for the device lifecycle position on your specific model before you plan around it.
Does Shift4 Dine include a kitchen display system?
A kitchen display system is part of the hardware range, offered as a 16 or 22 inch touchscreen with an optional bump bar. It is hardware, so it is a line on your quote rather than something bundled in at no cost. Whether you need one depends on ticket volume and how much your kitchen currently loses to printer jams.
Can I get Shift4 Dine without using Shift4 for processing?
No. Payment acceptance is built into the platform and the two are sold as one relationship. This matters more than it sounds, because processing is usually the largest cost of the four over a three year period. Get the rate and the full fee schedule in writing before you commit to the software.
How long does a Shift4 Dine install take in Arkansas?
The install itself is a day in most single location restaurants. The work that decides whether it goes well happens earlier, in menu programming, and we do that before hardware ships. We are on site on go live night, because that is the shift where anything missed in programming shows up in front of paying guests.
Vendor pricing and tax rates change without notice. Confirm current figures with the vendor, the city or your accountant before you rely on them. Not tax, legal or accounting advice.
